Save energy.
Advice from the 1970's was: save water, bath with a friend. While we wouldn't necessarily go as far as that (the bath's not big enough), you could turn off lights and the TV when you leave your room

Leave the car here.
We've got a superb network of footpaths in our valley. And we've got plenty of maps that show you walk, cycle and bridle paths. The bus stop (timetables in your room or downstairs) is at the bottom of our farm road. We offer a taxi service if you want to go out, specially in the evening.

Shop local.Sabden once had more than 20 shops. It now has two that are both good.

  • the Post Office/newsagent's/off licence/general store on Whalley Road

  • Just Store Pendle on Padiham Road which sells everything from tasty sandwiches and pies to general store produce and is also an off licence.

If you'd like to know where the nearest pubs, eating places, local butchers, specialist shops etc etc are, just ask and we'll do our best to help.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
If you're going shopping and want some carrier bags (bags for life etc), we've got some you can have. We recycle when possible - waste packaging such as you may leave in your room and that's burnable helps heat our water and warm our sitting room.

If you want to visit an excellent recycling establishment - the PENDLE ANTIQUE CENTRE on Watt Street is a must for a visit! It has something for all tastes.

Watch water
Please remember to help conserve our environment by using water wisely.

Respect Nature
Help us look after our countryside and wildlife by not leaving litter lying about, guarding against fire such as when we have had very dry weather, and remembering the Country Code when using footpaths and cycleways, and when walking with your dog.

Support Green Tourism Businesses
Hundreds of businesses of all sizes are trying to cut their environmental impacts through the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Have a look at www.green-business.co.uk for more information.
